In The Arms of The Angels

Each and every one of my dogs that I have lost, has taken a piece of me with them. Sass on the other hand, has taken a great big chunk. From beginning to end, she was the best dog and companion a person could ever hope for. She was never destructive as a puppy. And heaven help if someone else did "wrong"....she was such a tattletale and would come running to let me know about it. Sass was very intune to me and my feelings. Sometimes maybe a little "too" intune... I do not like bugs, therefore neither did Sass. If I picked up the fly swatter, she was out of there like a shot. She always kept her eye on what I was doing or if I was going some where. I remember one time when she was in the front of Ike's motorhome and we had the door open, I was partway across the parking lot when I realized I was being followed...I guess Sass decided she was going to join me for my stroll. Even though she was going to be eleven this summer, she still had the heart and attitude of a much younger dog. Last year on her birthday, she caught a opossum. She was so pleased with herself as she cavorted around the yard with it. I would have given anything to celebrate another birthday with her but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Sass had not been ill, so her passing was unexpected. I miss her terribly and think of her often. Rest in peace sweet girl. (written by Donna Nicoloff)

While Juno was alive, she was our Motorhome Mascot but after Juno's passing Sass stepped into that role like the Grand Dam she was. However, there were times when she was asked to stay in the back of the motorhome with the "dogs"....this was so beneath her....but she would drag her feet and go up those back steps when asked. However, when she was asked to go to the front of the motorhome, you could see the look of justification in her eyes as she knew this was her true status in life. Ike remembers when he was putting dogs up and she got out of the xpen, he thought he could just tell her to kennel up (like Donna does) and she would hop up the back steps...however, Sass had other plans. She headed in the opposite direction, stopping for a second at the front door, but when she found it shut she headed around the front of the motorhome and started checking out all the motorhomes on the show grounds to try and find that one motorhome with the front door open. Ike said she was checking out some of the most expensive motorhomes too. He caught her before she found that open door but if he hadn't, she would have been propped up on someones leather couch just waiting for a treat!!!! LOL Then there was the time she made everyone play musical beds in the middle of the night because she wanted Donna out of the top bunk and down in the double bed with her. She made so much noise no one could sleep so Sass got her way and in the middle of the night everyone was up and changing beds so that Sass could sleep with Donna. Once Donna was where Sass wanted her, she snuggled down and went straight to sleep and we didn't hear a peep from her the rest of the night. I know this is one of the hardest goodbyes that Donna has had to make but we know that they will reunite one day and Sass will once again have her way. Show um who's boss Sass. We will miss you!  (written by Karen McCrory)
